MY BACKGROUND: My 30 plus year history as a tutor began as member of a coffee group that met between classes at the El Paso Community College (EPCC). I shared a table with five Vietnam Era Veterans. In our discussions, I found that my friends needed help with their math classes. I began to help them out. After a few sessions, they informed me that I could get paid for their tutoring by the UTEP (University of Texas at El Paso) and EPCC Veteran's Administration offices. After getting certified by these respective offices, I became a professional tutor. I then became a tutor for the EPCC Tutorial Services. Through this office, I tutored Undergraduate Students, the Mentally Ill, Learning Disabled students, and was a GED Instructor. I have help 100's of students earn their GED's, High School Diplomas, and Associates Degrees. At UTEP, I became a grader for the Mathematics Department. I graded the homework and exams of students in College Algebra, Business Mathematics, Business Calculus, Statistics I & II, PreCalculus, Calculus I, II, & III, and Differential Equations. While at UTEP, I tutored students working on their BBA, BS Engineering, MBA, and MPA degrees.
