Kia Ora my name is Ramona aka Bubba Pewhairangi I was born in Lower Hutt hospital, educated at Saint Peter's & Paul's primary school in Lower Hutt attended Saint Joseph's Maori Girls College in Greenmeadows Napier. I have three adult children two who are teachers and one who works for Corrections Department. I was raised in Stokes Valley by my mother (sadly my Dad past away when I was very young) I attended Wellington College of Education and graduated with a Diploma in Teaching 1994, attended Victoria University and successfully completed 3/4 of a degree in Te Reo Maori and Education 1993/1994. When I left Teachers College I began work in a Total Immersion class and continued to work in a teaching role within Total immersion or bilingual classes, after working in a teaching role for over ten years I then moved into tertiary education and worked for Te Wananga o Aotearoa from 2002 - 2004 as the Manager of the Mahi Ora home based learning program, I was offered a position within Te Wananga o Aotearoa as the Academic Manager, during that time I was fortunate enough to be able to return to studying at Te Wananga o Raukawa where I was successful in gaining a Diploma in Te Reo Maori & Business Management 2006. Currently I am employed with South Pacific Academy of Education a privately owned PTE as the Program Leader/Tutor and have been employed here since 2008.
My qualifications are: Diploma in Teaching, Diploma in Te Reo Maori & Business Management, National Certificate in Employment, 4098 Assessment in the work place.
My current working experience is educating adults delivering NZQA unit standards for employment, being capable of teaching a wide range of people from different cultural backgrounds, being able to build an excellent rapport with students as well as staff members, understanding the importance of maintaining a professional manner at all times when dealing with students and stakeholders such as WINZ, NZQA, MoE and TEC. I believe I have professional and life experiences that I'm able to bring into any learning environment to ensure that students and tutor are learning in a safe and motivational whanau atmosphere. |

I'm prepared to start on a lower hourly rate with the understanding that a yearly pay raise incentive be negotiated on performance during each one year period of employment. |
