Additional Info:	Final exam time! Is your child having trouble with reading, an English lit class, or history class? Never fear. Tutoring Services Elementary -Reading: Does your student have trouble reading and writing? Are you concerned that he or she is reading below grade level? I'd love to help! Utilizing special strategies that I have gleaned from my time working in DC Public schools, I can work one-on-one with your child to help her with phonics, pronunciation, speed, fluency, and comprehension. We'll also work together on sentence construction and simple grammatical skills. Middle School -Reading: Middle school can be a difficult time for any child, so adequate tutoring can help a student hone his reading skills fast. I am happy to read and discuss books with your middle schooler, breaking down difficult concepts and building vocabulary. Naturally, we will also work on comprehension mastery so that he or she will be ready for high school. -Social Studies: Is your child struggling to understand the new challenges of social studies class? I am happy to assist! We will read historical texts together, break down important concepts into simple language, and hone writing skills so your child will be ready for the rigors of high school essay-writing! High School/University -English Literature: Is your student having trouble understanding a certain text? I'll gladly go over the work with him so that he can properly understand it, be able to discuss the work in front of his class, and write any number of papers about the text. We can go over writing strategies together so that he can construct a winning essay! Because I am currently pursuing teaching license in English, I am well-read and uniquely prepared to help in this area. -History: It can be difficult to keep dates and larger historical trends straight in one's head, especially when you're cramming. I'll work with your child to discover the learning strategy best suited for him. We can also work on history papers together so he can earn a great grade! I've taught AP World history three times now, and I love it more each time! Additional Services ESL: Have you recently moved to the US and find yourself struggling with the English language? English is one of the most difficult languages to master thanks to many complex and inconsistent rules. I'll engage you in conversation and give tips on pronunciation, grammar, and sentence structure. You'll speak like a native in no time! Please note: -I only teach the following subjects: English literature, history/social studies, and reading. Unfortunately, I'm terrible at math, so I cannot teach it! Credentials -Graduated from the University of Virginia in just three years with a GPA of 3.7 (Deans List, Echols Scholar) -Currently pursuing English teaching license. -Experience working in both Fairfax County and DC Public Schools -Served as a freelance writer for 3+ years Availability Here's the best part! I'm available any day of the week and weekends! Just give me 24 hours notice to prepare, and I'll be there to help!
Fees:	$ 20.00 Dollars Per Hour -Negotiable: If you are able to come to me at a Herndon location, I will charge only $15 per hour. If I must travel another northern Virginia location, the rate will be $20 per hour. If I must travel to DC, I'll also charge $20 per hour. If I have to travel, it would best if your location was metro-accessible. (I don't have a car!) These rates come with my full attention and on-demand help. This means if your student needs help immediately or has a question, all you must do is email me, text me, or instant message me, and I will assist him with whatever he needs. This is particularly helpful during those last minute cram session freak outs. I've been there, so I understand.
