I am currently attending my first year with the faculty of education and will be completing my degree in 2012. I am currently completing my second practicum block and have a wealth of teaching experience. I spent my first practicum at Oak Park Collegiate. This school was a very different experience than an inner city school, but has taught me some valuable lessons. I had the privilege of working with two fantastic teachers who have developed an English/Geography integrated program. The goal was to teach the students in an environment which offered the time and support needed for learning. We offered differentiated instruction and student centered exercises, and these approaches benefited all of the students enrolled. Our students varied in performance from low to advanced, and through the unique learning community that we fostered were able to provide support for all learners. I have spent my University career studying History and this has honed my written and communication skills as well as my ability to think critically. I am very good at connecting with students and helping them resolve learning difficulties. I always strive for the best in any endeavor and reflect on my experiences to develop as a professional.
