Additional Info:	I am a certified Ontario teacher (OCT) and trained musician with a B. Mus (Music Education). I graduated from Nipissing University with a B. Ed (K-6) in June 2009, and have spent the last two years teaching and tutoring Math and English in a variety of underprivileged elementary schools in London, England. I am now back in Ontario and tutoring in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. I'm happy to take on students who haven't fully grasped concepts taught in class yet using my own materials, or to be a resource for homework using resources from your child's school. My Philosophy of Education: Every child has their own strengths and passions that motivate them. Every child also has preferences in the ways in which they absorb and assimilate information. I have a very student-centred approach that seeks to learn about the student, about the things that interest them and the particular issues they need to work on. Once we (parent, child, and I) have established the targets together, I work with the student to find good strategies to meet the targets. I individually tailor solutions to each student I tutor. If Marie finds it easier to remember her times tables if we set them to a familiar tune, we’ll do that. If Oluwatomasin needs a concept map to help him organize his story ideas, I’ll make sure he has one.
Fees:	$ 18.00 Canadian Dollars Per Hour Location: I am willing to come to your house if it is within a ten-minute walk of a GRT bus stop and a parent can be home during each session. Alternatively, I can meet the student at your nearest library. Flexibility: I am happy to accommodate your family's needs and schedule as much as possible. Give me a call and we can arrange a schedule that works for you--I am willing to do weekend work sometimes if needed.
