My name is Joanne Madden. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in HIstory from York University and a librarian technician's certificate from Ryerson.
After many years of being a researcher and archivist at the library of the Toronto Star, I decided to accept a voluntary severance offered by the company. Since then, I have been embarking on other pursuits. In February of 2011, I began tutoring in the volunteer Leading to Reading Program at the Bloor/Gladstone Library. Ive been enjoying it immensely.
Last October, I enrolled in a TESL course at the Canadian Centre for Language and Cultural Studies (CCLCS). I completed the five-week core program on December 16th, 2011. I am scheduled to do 25 hours of practicum teaching during the week of January 23, 2012. I expect to receive my TESL Canada certification sometime in February or March.
I have much energy and enthusiasm. My goal is to teach or tutor English as a Second Language on a part-time basis. I am also interested in tutoring elementary school students in reading and writing. |
