Additional Info: To Whom it may Concern,
I am confident that my abilities as an educator; my educational qualifications and experiences; as well as my commitment to the success of my students with diverse social, cultural, linguistic and academic background will be an asset to you.
I have recently graduated from the two-year Mater of Teaching program at the University of Toronto, specifically the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). This program has inspired, challenged, and moved me to embrace new teaching strategies, as well as to affirm my identity as a continual student of education. I am qualified to teach English and History, as well as Special Education, in the Intermediate and Secondary School grade levels (Grades 7 to 12). I have also successfully completed the Learning and Believing in Catholic Schools course so as to be able to teach a religious education course. I have written a Master of Teaching Research Project, equivalent to that of a Master’s Thesis, focussed on the necessity for the implementation and practice of Inclusive Education and Differentiated Instruction in the Secondary School classroom. A specific personal goal within the classroom is to help students realize their important role in their communities, and to encourage students’ participation in and outside of the classroom. I believe that all students can learn and ought to be given equal opportunity to succeed, though, as individuals, they may not necessarily learn in the same ways.
Over the course of several years, I have had several teaching experiences in classrooms ranging from Kindergarten through and up until Grade 12. I have taught sections of the Grade 8 Language Arts and Social Studies curriculum, Grade 9 English, both Academic and Applied, as well as Grades 7, 10, and 12 strands of Canadian and World Histories. I have taught in the Toronto Public District School Board, as well as the Toronto Catholic District School Board, and have also had the opportunity to teach in Private and/or Independent schools. During my time at OISE, I have developed a progressive approach to classroom management, with the aid and expertise of Barrie Bennett, which enables me to build relationships with my students infused with respect and honesty. I believe that I have been successful in achieving this as my Associate Teachers, as well as many fellow colleagues, have commented on my ability to create a swift and outstanding rapport with my students.
I believe that the task of an exceptional teacher extends beyond the classroom through the development of curiosity and intellect of all students, as well as by promotion of a students’ self worth. Therefore, my classroom will be an inclusive and constructivist setting where my students will feel safe to be their authentic and genuine selves, as well as not being afraid to make mistakes and learn from them. Fittingly, this summer I received an Additional Qualification for Special Education part one, wherein my passion for helping and understanding students was multiplied. This exemplifies my passion and belief that as a teacher, I should never stop learning and developing. In the future, I plan on taking more Additional Qualifications and partaking in several professional development courses as opportunities present themselves.
I look forward to the opportunity of giving back and belonging to a community that fostered my initial desire to become an educator. I am confident that I will make a positive contribution to this school through my classroom teaching and my desire to create a community of respect in and outside of the classroom. I would be delighted to discuss my application with you further and I thank you for your time. I would be happy to answer any further questions you may have.
Sincerely,

Giulia Tedesco (416) 648-5675
