Additional Info:	For effective tutoring in Spanish, I believe that it is important to help my students arrive at an understanding of the deeper linguistic themes behind specific grammatical constructs. Such understanding allows the student to gain a better sense of the language as a whole and to be able to solve problems on his or her own without my help. My relevant work experience includes 2.5 years as a Spanish Tutor at Pomona College and 3.5 years as an Academic Grader in the Pomona College Spanish Department. Tutoring Spanish included but was not limited to: teaching individuals and groups with a range of proficiency; leading group conversation to improve oral comprehension and communication; instruction in basic grammar and vocabulary for beginning students; feedback and revisions on essays for intermediate and advanced students; and explanation of complex grammatical concepts and subtleties with advanced students. Working as an Academic Grader included evaluating students' homework and giving constructive feedback, as well as providing explanations for incorrect answers. I studied Spanish formally for 9 years, including a number of upper division classes while at Pomona College. I studied for a semester at the Universidad de Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain, where I perfected my Spanish in the following classes: Lengua Española, Temas de Gramática Avanzada, Español Inensiva, Economía de la Unión Europea, Economía de América Latina, Sistemas Políticas de España y Portugal.
