I have been employed by the Tampa office of a tutoring agency ("A Quantum Leap")since last December working under the SES program. Quantum does not require exclusivity of my services and at present does not offer summer or on line assignments. I am interested in continuing tutoring throughout the coming months.
Before joining Quantum I was associated with a tutoring agency named Wyzant which required my taking on line examinations in subjects that I felt comfortable in tutoring. I successfully passed tests in 33 different subjects. (If necessary I can forward a copy of my test results).
For two years (2007 - 2009)I was employed as a substitute teacher at the middle and high school level at 10 schools located in Hernando County FL.
Prior to this, I was employed by 12 different middle and high schools and two primary schools in Vermont from 2000 through 2006. I was consistently in demand primarily in the area of languages but received assignments in all academic subjects. I have taught Latin, French, German and Spanish at the high school level and French at the primary level.
Recently I was a volunteer ESOL instructor at the Tarpon Springs campus of St. Petersburg College and was a senior ESOL instructor with an internationally known language school ("Inlingua") headquartered in Vienna, Austria for a period of two years. In the latter position I conducted language instruction in the offices of doctors, bankers and other professionals and in factories and small business offices.
In the past four years I have volunteered with a number of local agencies (R.S.V.P./H.E.A.R.T/Career Central) where I have assisted students prepare for G.E.D. testing, SAT and ACT preparation and gave ESOL instruction to three diverse groups.
I am currently a docent at the Leepa-Rattner Museum located in Tarpon Springs and volunteer frequently at the Palladium Theater and with Tarpon Springs Cultural Treasures.
In 2001 I was employed by the Department of Immigration assisting immigrants prepare for U.S. Citizenship examinations and held a supervisory position with the census conducted in 2010.
In years past, I gave ESOL lessons to Korean Air Force Officers and have given private instruction to a number of foreign-born individuals in various areas of English instruction. (I had private students from Nepal, Brazil, Bosnia and Germany to mention a few).
I hold a B.A. degree from Adelphi University (NY) and have attended courses at the Sorbonne (Paris, France), McGill College (Montreal), the Alliance Francaise (Paris), Champlain College (Burlington VT)and elsewhere.
I am comfortable driving up to a radius of approximately 40 miles ( one hour and a half ) witness my employment in Tampa and my volunteer acitivities in Tarpon Springs and St. Petersburg. |
Fees:
|
$ 40.00 Dollars Per Hour
When I was associated with Wyzant I was able to access the information provided by working tutors whose fees ranged from $ 30 to $ 65 per hour. My assignments with Wyzant were charged at $ 60/hour.
I am negotiable on the rate of $ 40 but would wish to discuss on an individual basis some coverage of my travel expenses.
I am prepared to drive up to one and a half hours to undertake tutoring assignments which would include Tampa, St. Petersburg as well as schools (or homes) in Hernando, Hillsborough, Citrus, and adjoining counties. |
