Additional Info:	I am college educated. I have experience substitute teaching in public schools, pre-k through 6th grade. I have worked with children through high school, volunteering in support groups and religious education classes. There we have made art projects and discussed current issues and possible solutions to subjects such as bullying. In addition to creating art, children express themselves by writing their ideas and sharing with each other. This creates valuable insights and connections. I read on any subject that becomes of interest to me. I like to help students develop their interests. Finding books they like can be exciting and expand their knowledge in areas important to them. A variety of experiences can also inspire thought. I like to give the student ideas of ways to find out more. When tutoring I try to keep close to the classroom teacher's methods of teaching so children won't be confused. At the same time I introduce many ways to help students learn their subjects that are interesting and comfortable to them. Those new ways of learning support their work at school. I think routines for homework are important. Once a child achieves grade level or above the goal is to keep him or her there. The pleasure success creates will motivate the child to persist. A certain time of day to do schoolwork means a lot to his or her continuing to maintain the skills and to move forward. I teach English, reading and writing up to grade 6. I also teach math up to algebra. These are the subjects in which I have developed different systems that work for individual children.
Fees:	$ 35.00 Dollars Per Hour I like to stay 1 and 1/2 hours. This gives time to get involved in our work together. It also gives enough time to plan what the student will do before our next session.
